Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday to take stock of the situation in the hill state after heavy rains and floods.

Sources said, “PM Modi spoke to Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and Uttarakhand minister Ajay Bhatt. PM took stock of the situation arising due to heavy rains in the state.

Yesterday, Uttarakhand Governor Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It comes amid heavy rains and floods in the state.


Earlier, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand took detailed information from the concerned officials about the situation of excessive rainfall in the state. He has been taking stock of the situation from the Disaster Control Room of the State Secretariat.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a red alert for Uttarakhand with heavy to very heavy rain forecast in the state.

“Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Uttarakhand and West Uttar Pradesh,” the Meteorological Department said in its daily weather bulletin issued on Monday morning. As a precaution, the Badrinath Yatra has been stopped and the pilgrims going to Badrinath have been stopped at safer places.
