Hours after three staffers of courier cum-banking service institution, Angadia Firms, were shot at by three men at In Tax Circle in Ahmedabad on Monday night in an alleged loot bid, police arrested four accused in the case.

According to police, around 7.15 pm, three staff of various Angadia Firms were shot at near Hyatt Regency hotel in Ahmedabad by three unknown assailants who arrived on motorcycles. Balwant Singh Rajput, an employee of K Ashwin Angadia Firm at Ratanpole in Ahmedabad, was shot in his leg while his two colleagues Dharmendra Mahi suriya and Vikram Thakor escaped unhurt.

The assailants then looted three bags of cash and gold and silver jewellery worth lakhs from the victims after firing three rounds at them from a pistol. The victims had travelled from Deesa in Banaskantha to Ahmedabad in a state transport bus carrying cash and jewellery couriers and deboarded at the Income Tax Circle where the attack took place.

Hours after the incident, a team of Ahmedabad City Police’s Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) arrested four accused Kishan Singh Mazvi (29), a native of Sirsa in Haryana, Arvind alias Sonu Rajawat (32), a native of Bhind in Madhya Pradesh, Amit Shivhare alias Happy (40),a native of Chitrakoot in Uttar Pradesh, and Balram Rajawat (35) from Bhind in Madhya Pradesh.


According to police, the four were held from the Sardarnagar area near Ahmedabad airport on Monday night, hours after the loot and firing incident. Police said they also recovered Rs 43.9 lakh cash, gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 28.14 lakh, an autorickshaw, two motorcycles, a pistol handgun, a country made weapon and 12 rounds of live ammunition from the accused.

Right after the incident, the case was handed over to the DCB and we received information that the four ac- cused are hiding with the looted stuff on the roof of a three-storey building near Maya Cinema Hall in Sardarnagar area. Six people are involved in the case. The tip about Angadia Firms staff deboarding at Income Tax Circle was given by one Raju Zala from Mehsana who is a friend of Govind Rajawat, said a senior officer of Ahmedabad DCB.

Another wanted accused, Chandrabhan Tomar, was also part of the gang and around one week ago, they made a plan to loot Angadia Firm workers. The accused stole two motorcycles from CTM Crossroads three days ago and did a recce of the Ashram road area. They parked their motorcycles near Income Tax Circle and waited for the firm’s staff to deboard from buses, the officer added.

Kishan Singh was con victed of a murder in 2015 in Kutch and was jailed in Rajkot. He jumped parole last year. Govind Rajawat was convicted in the murder of a Angadia firm staff in Morbi in 2010 and he jumped parole in 2015.Amit Shivhare has been booked in multiple murders, loot, at tempted murders and Arms Act cases since 2009 and he was on parole. Balram Rajawat was also arrested for loot and attempted mur der in Deesa, said the officer.
