The rain that has been raining for two days has become a big disaster for the Chander Bhagat ji family in Shahjahanpur village of Faridabad district, situated on the banks of river Yamuna. Sabad, a 55-year-old woman in the family, died at around 5 pm on Sunday. It was raining at that time. There is no umbrella to protect against rain in the cremation ground of the village, so the villagers waited for the rain to stop.
When the rain did not stop till Monday morning, the villagers left the house with the dead body. In the rain itself, about one and a half kilometers away, the other village reached the area of Fajjupur village. Here the flyover of Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal Expressway is built on Yamuna river. A space appeared below it. The villagers considered it appropriate to perform the last rites of the woman here to protect her from the rain. After this the last rites were performed at around 10.30 pm. Villager Rajkishore Bhati says that this is not the first time, but the whole village remains troubled for three-four months of rain.
The condition of the cremation ground in the village is bad. There is no boundary wall, big bushes have grown inside. There is no umbrella to protect against rain. Because of this, one has to wander here and there for the last rites of the dead body in the rain. Many times correspondence has been made with the administration regarding this, but no solution has been found. Rajkishore said that on Monday morning the villagers expressed their anger over the matter. The whole village is troubled for almost a decade. Now the villagers will meet the Chief Minister about this and will talk about the solution to the problem.
