England is set to tour the West Indies in 2022 for five T20Is and three Test matches. Cricket West Indies (CWI) and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced this on Monday (October 18). This will be England’s first five-match T20I series against West Indies and it will be interesting to see how it pans out. Along with the ICC World Test Championship, the Test series also holds a significant relevance.

All five T20 matches will take place in Barbados over a period of nine days from January 22 to January 30 next year. With England and West Indies being two of the strongest T20 teams, the series is set to see some exciting action between the willow and the ball. Notably, West Indies will tour India after the T20I series against the Three Lions.

So the Test series will be played in March when the Caribbean team returns home. The series will be played for the newly created Richards-Botham Trophy.

“Following India’s white-ball tour of the West Indies in February 2022, the West Indies will welcome England back to compete for the newly created Richards-Botham Trophy for a three-match Test series. This new trophy honors two cricketing legends, Lord Ian Botham and Sir Vivian Richards, whose friendship and on-field valor became synonymous with some of their respective teams’ Test match great moments,” the ECB said in an official statement.

The Test series will begin on March 8, 2022 at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground (SVRCG) in Antigua. The action will then move to the Kensington Oval in Barbados and later to the National Cricket Stadium in Granada.
