Ahmedabad, Gujarat has reported an increase in Covid cases on two consecutive days after seeing a fall for six days at a stretch before that.

The state reported 8,934 new Covid cases on Wednesday, which were higher than 8,338 cases reported on Tuesday.Gujarat had reported 6,607 on Monday.Ahmedabad city reported 3,309 new cases, which were higher than the 2,654 cases on Tuesday.


There were 1,512 new cases in Vadodara city and 409 cases in rural Vadodara. There were 320 cases in Rajkot city, 279 in Gandhinagar city, 265 in Surat city, 248 in rural Surat, 227 in Mehsana, 224 in Kutch and 222 cases in Bharuch. Other districts reported fewer than 200 cases.

Gujarat on Wednesday reported 34 official Covid deaths which were fewer than the 38 deaths on February 1.

Of these, 10 were in Ahmedabad city,4 in Rajkot city, 3 each in Vadodara city and Bharuch. There were 2 deaths each in Surat city and rural Surat. There was 1 death each reported from rural Vadodara, Mehsana, rural Rajkot, rural Gandhinagar, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar city, Navsari, Surendranagar, rural Jamnagar and Botad. This took the official death toll to 427 in 2022 and 10,545 in all. There were 69,187 active cases in Gujarat.
