“Department of Health and Family Welfare, Cachar District will start Vaccination of children of age group 15-18 years with COVAXIN from 3rd January 2022” District Development Commissioner Cachar and incharge Deputy Commissioner, Rajib Roy said while addressing media persons at a press conference held at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner’s office on Saturday. Roy urged the public to come forward to complete their Vaccination by taking the second dose so that people remain immunised from further waves of COVID.
He also requested the guardians of eligible children to come forward to make this drive successful. In his address ,Dr. Ashutosh Barman, Jt. Director of Health Services informed that the booster dose for front line workers, health care workers and the persons attained 60 years with comorbidities will be started from 10th January onwards.
Earlier, Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert informed that as per the progressive population based on census, Cachar has a target of 1,13,130. Initially, the children of the Government High school and Higher secondary schools will be targeted. Those whose birth year is 2007 or before are eligible for Vaccination. In later phases the private school students will also be covered.
Dr. P. K. Roy, Additional Chief Medical officer (Family welfare), Dr. Sumona Naiding, District immunisation officer, Dr. Arun Deb Nath, incharge, Vaccination, Rahul Ghose, District programme Manager, National Health Mission were also present in the meeting.
