In a successful operation against anti- national activities, troopers of Assam Rifles based in south Mizoram’s Lunglei town have recovered a huge cache of explosives and war like stores in Mizoram near the Myanmar border, an Assam Rifles officer said on Sunday.
The operation was carried out jointly by Assam Rifles personnel and state police based on specific information at a crossing point near the Indo-Myanmar border in south Mizoram’s Siaha district on December 30, he said.
The Assam Rifles and police team carried out a detailed search in a jungle near the Myanmar border where the presence of explosives and war-like stores was reported, he said.
81 kilogram of liquid explosives, 94 kilogram of Belox granular explosives, 395 kilogram of Gelatin rods, 356 rounds of 12 gauge 70 mm cartridges, 1 IED (Improvised Explosive device) mechanism, lead acid batteries, two detonators and other stores including foreign communication equipment were recovered during the operation carried out about 3 km south of Mawhre village in Siaha district, he said.
He claimed the recoveries had prevented a massive untoward incident, saving precious lives.
The successful operation will go a long way in the establishment of peace and harmony along the Indo Myanmar Border, he said.
